We are looking for some very special individuals who would love to help us with our mobile outreach visits to care homes, day centres, hospitals and hospices across East Devon and Somerset. You would travel with a member of staff to assist in providing quality mobile donkey interaction sessions.
Do you love the idea of helping to make these visits mutually enjoyable and enriching for both people and donkeys? Would you enjoy the sense of fulfillment that comes along with knowing you have made somebody’s day brighter?

Donkeys have a unique presence, a zen-like grounded quality. We’re using their abilities as sentient facilitators and encouraging them to be an equal partner in the session - Caron Whaley, Director of Donkey Assisted Therapy
We would love for you to have experience of animals and ideally equines, you would feel confident to be around our donkeys assisting them with their interactions with the people that they meet. We will offer full training to you but, you will need to be happy to go to each visit with a sense of humour and an awareness of your surroundings so you are able to cope well should a challenging situation arise. You will be willing to learn about the care and behaviour of donkeys to enable you carry out this role. You will be happy to engage with the variety of people that you meet.
Outreach is extremely rewarding but can at times be quite demanding. It is essential that you are open minded and open hearted. Being able to be flexible with your dates and times is necessary as changes can occur at short notice. You will enjoy the challenge of the role knowing that you are helping to bring joy and enrichment into the lives of others.
