  • Our festive family trail runs daily until 6 January.

The Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth.
Free admission. Pre-booking not required.

We aim to deliver as close to the gold standard experience our visitors enjoyed and loved pre-Covid, albeit with some safety measures still in place to protect our staff, volunteers, donkeys and visitors.

The Kitchen, Gift Shop and more of the indoor attractions are open, as well as all the walkways around the sanctuary providing plenty of opportunities to interact with the resident donkeys. Find our full map here.

Opening times

  • 9am - 4.30pm
  • Seven days a week
  • Closed Christmas Day

The sanctuary is open every day from 9am – 4.30pm (except Christmas Day), with last entry into the car park at 4pm and 4.15pm into The Kitchen. The Gift Shop also closes at 4.15pm.

All visitors are required to leave the sanctuary by 4.30pm, to allow our grooms time to complete their essential care of the donkeys. Thank you for your understanding.

We are a working farm and many of our walkways are grass, so please dress appropriately and bring suitable footwear for the weather.

Dog-friendly

Dogs are welcome at the sanctuary but they must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are also welcome in The Kitchen restaurant but please keep them under your table and out of the walkway at all times.

Please dispose of any waste in the bins provided.

We have a limited number of wheelchairs and one motability scooter available to pre-book. Please contact us if you’d like to pre-book a mobility aid for your visit.
