2 veggie sausages, 2 hash browns, Heinz beans, field mushroom, grilled tomato, toast and 2 free-range eggs (fried, poached or scrambled).

Topped toast
2 slices of white or granary toast topped with:
Heinz beans or grilled field mushrooms or 2 free-range eggs (fried, poached or scrambled).

Breakfast bap
Choose 3 fillings from:
Bacon, sausage, field mushroom, egg or hash brown.

Children's or small breakfast
Choose 4 items from our full English breakfast.

Simply toast
White, granary or gluten free with butter and preserve of choice.

Lunch menu (served 11.30am - 3pm)

Kitchen crafted paninis
All the following are served with salted crisps and a simple salad garnish:
Smoked ham hock, Cornish Jack cheese and beef tomato.
Heritage tomato, buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil.
Avocado, sun-blushed tomato and spinach (vegan).
Smoked bacon, Somerset brie and cranberry sauce.

Main course (served 11.30am - 3pm)

Soup of the day
Freshly made in-house using the finest locally sourced ingredients, served with white, brown or gluten free roll.

Homemade smoky baked beans
Served on sourdough toast, topped with poached eggs, finished with shaved parmesan.

Macaroni and cauliflower cheese
Served with a garlic ciabatta.

Salmon salad
A combination of locally sourced hot smoked salmon and our own home-cured orange and fennel scented salmon with orange, beetroot and watercress salad.

Kitchen garden salad
Served with mixed leaves, cucumber and heritage tomatoes, spring onion, shaved fennel, carrot ribbons, shaved celery, olives and feta, simply dressed with extra virgin olive oil and Modena balsamic vinegar.

Hand-crafted hamburger
Produced to our own tailored recipe, using only local free-range beef and pork. Served in a brioche bun, with baby gem lettuce and beefsteak tomato, accompanied by dill pickle, mushroom ketchup and our own house slaw.

Add deep-fried potato wedges or a simple side salad.

Children’s menu

Choose from:
Fish goujons, sausages, hamburger and bap
Served with a choice of two of the following:
Wedges, new potatoes, peas, Heinz beans, garlic bread or a simple salad.

Speciality sandwiches

All the following are served on thick cut white or granary bloomer bread and served with salted crisps and a simple salad garnish:

Minute steak, caramelised onion and Dorset blue vinny cheese.
Warm chicken breast, smoked bacon, tomato and our own mayonnaise.
Hot smoked salmon, horseradish crème fraiche and watercress.
Caramelised onion hummus, sun-dried tomato and rocket.

Jacket potatoes

Baked fresh daily, served with Wyke Farm butter, a simple salad garnish and any combination of the following:

Coronation chicken
Grated West Country mature cheddar.
Heinz or homemade smoky baked beans.
Atlantic prawns in Marie Rose sauce.


For our cake lovers we have a mouth-watering selection of locally made cakes, flapjacks, Devon cream teas and biscuits on our main service counter.

Group visits

The Donkey Sanctuary is the ideal destination for a special day out for groups and parties. What’s more admission and parking is free!

We provide an easy drop zone right at our entrance for coaches only and a designated parking bay - so access is never an issue.

No visit is complete without enjoying the delights of our new restaurant, The Kitchen. We provide group dining menus including breakfast, lunch and cream teas. Coach drivers receive a complimentary meal.

If you’d like to make the day extra special, you can book one of our expert guides for an hour-and-a-half in-depth hosted tour.

Pre-booking is essential with a minimum of 48 hours notice.
