We have an excellent opportunity for a Junior Data Scientist to join our Research and Operations Support team.
Possessing excellent IT and communication skills, you will be involved in many different aspects of the charity's work, including building reporting dashboards and templates for our animal management database, helping with data validation and extraction and escalating issues to team leaders where appropriate.
You will play an active part in the ongoing development of our data and analytics team, from investigating new methods and technologies to coding reporting tools and examining the integration of 3rd party data sources. You will help design and build reporting tools, assist in the ongoing development of our monitoring and evaluation system, and effectively communicate technology upgrades to our teams (including vets, welfare and farm staff).
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, being responsive to requests, adept at flexing communication style to different individuals, and able to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate complex IT issues at all levels within the charity. An appropriate Science or IT degree and the ability to demonstrate a knowledge of and desire to develop technical skills such as database and SQL knowledge are essential, as is demonstrable experience of using and competent knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty”, this is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract starting as soon as possible.
