With 20 donkeys in our adoption scheme, Toby's lovable face has captured many hearts. He was the 8,518th donkey to be taken into our care in 2002 and it wasn't long before we noticed Toby's potential in helping to make a huge difference to many children’s lives. In 2004, he joined our donkey assisted therapy centre in Manchester where we hear he's quite a character. When Toby isn't working, he's a donkey mastermind full of ingenious ideas for launching raids on the feed store cupboard!
Since Toby's arrival, we have taken in a further 4,392 donkeys and mules here in the UK alone. The latest is a sweet little donkey who had been shunted from one farmer's field to the next in Northern Ireland. A concerned member of public heard of this poor donkey's plight and got in touch with us. When our welfare officer, Jane Bruce, arrived on the scene she found a small brown donkey with long hooves. The donkey didn't respond to food being offered so Jane went back to her jeep and found some marmalade sandwiches that she had hastily made earlier for her own lunch. The little donkey quickly tucked into the sandwiches that were offered, while encouraging him to walk into the trailer. Having realised his love for marmalade sandwiches, Jane named him Marmalade thinking that it was the most appropriate name.
To help rescue donkeys like Marmalade and to reach more donkeys in need, we are always looking for ways to fundraise so we return back to our lovable Toby for you to fall in love with.
We are offering a unique opportunity to own this beautiful framed portrait of Toby, one of our adorable adoption donkeys in Manchester. The portrait was taken by the multi-award winning photographer Jonathan Oakes and printed onto high grade photographic lustre paper by DS Colour Labs in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The 16" x 12" print has been mounted in a 22" x 18" wooden frame.
