15 year old Dolly is one of the residents at our Derbyshire Centre who previously worked as a beach donkey until becoming a companion to another donkey called Hercules.
She arrived into our care in 2012 already in foal and gave birth to little Hettie two days before Christmas.
The staff are in the process of weaning Hettie off Dolly as she is now seven months old and Dolly needs her own space and Hettie needs another donkey friend of her own age to play with.
Dolly just loves being scratched, possibly because she had lice last year which obviously made her itch uncontrollably and now can't get enough of it... as you can see from this short video clip of head of welfare, Andy Foxcroft, scratching the parts that she can't reach herself... enjoy!
Dolly is likely to stay at our Derbyshire Centre as she has a few problems with her feet as well as being arthritic and will join the oldies group after litte Hettie has been fully weaned.
