World Veterinary Day was instigated by the World Veterinary Association in 2000 to recognise and celebrate the contribution of the veterinary profession to society. The theme of Animal Welfare was chosen to highlight the role of veterinarians in Animal Welfare and the great contribution of the veterinary profession to animals and society around the globe.
This year, veterinary teams from The Donkey Sanctuary, our partnerships and international projects that we collaborate with are joining together to celebrate World Veterinary Day in a variety of ways and many have sent us ‘postcards’ from the teams that we are delighted to be able to share with you in the below gallery:
The Donkey Sanctuary supports projects in 27 countries worldwide.
Every day we feel privileged to help sick, unwanted and hardworking donkeys, and the people who rely on them, thanks to incredible donations from people like you.
Donkeys and mules are stoical and hardworking creatures and these traits are often taken advantage of. The Donkey Sanctuary reaches out to those in greatest need through the provision of permanent refuge and veterinary services to alleviate their suffering.
The amazing contribution donkeys and mules make to humanity is not always recognised.
We are a devoted champion of these beautiful creatures and people’s lives are transformed everyday through our hands-on approach to education and training, and donkey assisted therapy.
