Our Spanish Sanctuary went to the aid of a donkey, Simon, who had been left in hobbles (his front feet tied together) and had become stuck in a dangerous position up a rocky cliff.
His only shelter from the cold and rain was a dark cave, with little food and water.
With the help of local authorities, we freed Simon from the hobbles and rescued him, taking him to the warmth and comfort he deserved.

Once safe, we examined Simon to find that the hobbles had cut into his legs and left terrible wounds.
His hooves were trimmed and wounds were treated, and Simon is enjoying his new freedom very much.
