This May half-term take part in our Golden Anniversary celebrations with this entertaining family activity that combines fun, exercise and brainpower.
Follow the various clues around the sanctuary to find the golden carrots and discover interesting facts relating to special events or achievements that have defined our first 50 years, before uncovering the hidden treasure to claim your gold reward. Just £3 per treasure hunt, including prize and certificate on completion.
On your quest to find the treasure, you'll get to meet some of the hundreds of friendly donkeys who are cared for at the sanctuary, including the gentle giant Poitous, the lovable adoption donkeys and the adorable minis.
During May half-term families will also have the chance to win a VIP Bray & Stay experience for up to 4 people, when signing up for our Dawdle for Donkeys fundraising walk on 15 June. The family-friendly 5k and more adventurous 10k course will take in the stunning walks around the sanctuary overlooking the world famous Jurassic Coast and is the perfect way to get outdoors while raising vital funds for donkeys in need.
As well, make the most of your visit by joining one of the fascinating tours, talks and demonstrations to learn more about our furry residents and how we are working to transform their lives. Before exploring the exciting new indoor attractions to discover just why donkeys are so special through fun, interactive displays in the new Exhibition Barn, Understanding Donkeys Zone and Dr Svendsen’s Hut.
Enjoy fresh, local, seasonal produce while soaking in the unparallelled coast and country views from our Taste of the West Gold award-winning restaurant, The Kitchen. Hearty breakfasts, luscious lunches and tempting treats are served daily from 9am to 5pm. And for unique donkey-design items and souvenirs to remember your visit by, head to the new Gift Shop.
The Donkey Sanctuary celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019, after being founded as a charity in 1969 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE. It has many achievements to celebrate and a renewed vision for the future that will transform the welfare of donkeys and mules across the world.
Entry and parking at the sanctuary is FREE (donations welcome). Dogs on leads are welcome.
