The Donkey Sanctuary’s restaurant The Kitchen has picked up a Travellers’ Choice Award from the online travel and review company Tripadvisor.

The awards celebrate businesses that have consistently received great reviews from their customers over the past 12 months, and the onsite restaurant at the Sidmouth sanctuary is among those for 2022.

Lisa Keech, Front and Back of House Manager at The Kitchen, said: “We are delighted to receive a Travellers’ Choice Award from Tripadvisor and thank our customers for taking the time to review us.

“My team have worked so hard which has paid off with such a very busy year and I feel so proud of them all. It is a real team effort and shows the dedication from all my staff in providing our customers with the best experience possible.”

Located in the heart of the sanctuary, The Kitchen offers visitors fresh, locally sourced seasonal produce, with views of the Weston valley to the sea beyond. It is open daily from 9am – 4pm.

This year, for the fourth year in a row, The Kitchen was also awarded a Taste of the West Gold Award. Taste of the West has been championing food and drink producers and venues across the South West since 1991, and its annual awards scheme ensures that high standards are maintained.

Notes to Editors

The Donkey Sanctuary is the world's largest equine welfare charity. Our vision is a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We run 10 sanctuaries around the UK and Europe, giving lifelong care to more than 7,000 donkeys and mules. Our hospital treats sick donkeys and trains vets both nationwide and worldwide. Our donkey-facilitated learning programme helps vulnerable children and adults develop life skills by connecting with donkeys on an emotional and physical level. The charity operates programmes worldwide for animals working in agriculture, industry and transportation, and those used in the production of meat and skin.

Please note that the name ‘The Donkey Sanctuary’ should not be abbreviated to ‘Donkey Sanctuary’, and the word ‘The’ should always appear with a capital ‘T’ as above.
