Sowing with donkeys

Sowing with Donkeys

15 September 2022 - 11:30 to 14:30
Fully booked

Join us for a two-course vegan lunch and conservation talk, as part of the Taste East Devon Festival.

Enjoy the last of the summer flavours with The Kitchen’s pop-up two-course vegan lunch as part of the Taste East Devon Festival, sourced where possible from our own land and within our beautiful corner of Devon.

After lunch, take a gentle stroll around the sanctuary with a member of our conservation team and hear how donkeys are integral to sustaining biodiversity on our land. Ultimately, if our land is well cared for, the land will look after our donkeys in return.

2-course vegan menu

Main

  • Forest Fungi wild mushrooms, mushroom duxelles, slow roasted tomato and rosemary focaccia, black garlic dressing.

Or

  • Roasted butternut squash, gnocchi, sage pesto, squash puree, toasted pine nuts, crispy kale, Italian-style hard cheese shavings.

Dessert

  • Apple and blackberry almond granola crumble, vanilla custard, Lyme Bay winter gin and blackberry coulis.

Or

  • Lyme Bay spiced lugger rum panna cotta, baked cinnamon figs, rosemary shortbread, fig leaf syrup.

Please make your selection at the time of booking and advise us of any dietary requirements. A selection of drinks will be available to purchase on the day.

Conservation walk and talk

Biodiversity is essential for supporting life and natural processes that make our environment more resilient, and we increasingly involve donkeys from our resident herd when carrying out conservation tasks.

Wildflower meadows are one of several types of habitat that we are trying to improve here at the sanctuary. They are home to many species and provide a massive benefit to a wide range of insects, including pollinators and, in turn, the wildlife that feeds upon them.

Join The Donkey Sanctuary’s Conservation Team to hear how we are exploring ways in which donkeys can help us manage our habitats, and in turn benefit from living in an enriched environment.
