My first career was in music, as a member of KLF Communications. After a few years of child-raising, I completed a degree in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Brighton, followed by a PhD investigating biomolecular pathways in cancer cells. I worked as a Research Fellow at UoB on a number of biomaterials research projects.
I joined the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries Enterprise and Innovation team at the University of Portsmouth in 2017 and in 2020 I started working as part of the Revolution Plastics team. I lead a number of international cross-faculty research projects, and am especially interested in using creative methods for community-based participatory research. I strongly believe that transdisciplinary research and an open mind are essential for radical innovation.

My research explores collaboration across species, sectors and communities. Current projects centre on how living alongside domestic animals shapes our understanding of "human" concepts like sustainability, work and heritage.

I am a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, and a member of the European Group of Organisation Studies, the British Academy of Management and the Institute of Place Management.
