Sowing with donkeys

Sowing with Donkeys

18 September 2023 - 15:00 to 18:00
Fully booked

Join us for a full afternoon tea and conservation talk, as part of the Taste East Devon Festival.

Start your afternoon with a gentle stroll around the sanctuary with a member of our conservation team and hear how donkeys are integral to sustaining biodiversity on our land. Ultimately, if our land is well cared for, the land will look after our donkeys in return.

After you’ve worked up a healthy appetite, enjoy the last of the summer rays at The Kitchen’s afternoon tea as part of the Taste East Devon Festival, sourced where possible from our own land and within our beautiful corner of Devon.

Afternoon tea with a view

Three tiers of locally sourced Devon delicacies, a selection of sandwiches, sweet treats and cakes, finishing off with freshly baked fruit scones with jam and clotted cream. A vegan and gluten-free selection is available.

Washed down with table-served Clipper tea from Beaminster, Dorset or The Coffee Company coffee from Newton Abbot. A quintessential Devon afternoon.

Please make your selection at the time of booking and advise us of any dietary requirements. A selection of other drinks will be available to purchase on the day.

Conservation walk and talk

Biodiversity is essential for supporting life and natural processes that make our environment more resilient, and we increasingly involve donkeys from our resident herd when carrying out conservation tasks.

Wildflower meadows are one of several types of habitat that we are trying to improve here at the sanctuary. They are home to many species and provide a massive benefit to a wide range of insects, including pollinators and, in turn, the wildlife that feeds upon them.

Join The Donkey Sanctuary’s conservation team to hear how we are exploring ways in which donkeys can help us manage our habitats, and in turn benefit from living in an enriched environment.

Tickets

Tickets cost £18.50 + booking fee, including the afternoon tea and conservation talk.

Pre-booking is required and there are a limited number of tickets available, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
