This week (17-21st February 2014) is National Nest Box week where the British public is encouraged to put up nest boxes for our feathered friends, not only to protect the wildlife we already have, but to encourage even more birds to brood in our backyards!
During half-term, visitors to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth can join our exciting bird nest box workshops and make a nest box of their own to take home and attract birds for Spring.
Don’t miss our last session this Friday, 21st February, from 10.30am to 2pm. No booking required. Just turn up!
By making a nest box you will be contributing to bird conservation as old habitats such as gardens and old houses are ‘tidied’ up and lost, whilst at the same time having the pleasure of watching the birds that flock to your garden as a result.
You may wish to monitor the species that visit and take part in the Nest Box Challenge. Details here: http://www.bto.org/about-birds/nnbw/monitor
Nest box sessions are £8 per person. Contact us on 01395 578222 for information.
