A quick, simple yet delicious breakfast that can be prepared in advance. Packed with protein and providing a slow release of energy, this porridge is a nutritious way start to your day and will help keep you full all morning.

Ingredients

100 g oats
400 ml milk/milk alternative
15 g ground almonds
1 tsp almond extract
60 g frozen black cherries
I dessert spoon honey/maple syrup
Sweetener to taste

To garnish:

Grated dark chocolate
Toasted flaked almonds
Toasted pumpkin seeds (optional)

Method

  1. Put the oats, milk, ground almonds, almond extract and sweetener in a pan and cook on a medium heat while stirring regularly, for approximately 4-5 minutes until thickened.
  2. Heat the cherries and honey/syrup in pan over a gentle heat for a few minutes until soft and sticky.
  3. Serve your porridge topped with the cherries, toasted almonds, seeds and grated chocolate.
