Donkey Welfare Adviser, Munster Area
Donkey Welfare Advisers (DWAs) are professionals in donkey and mule welfare. They play a key role in the front line work of The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland. Acting as an ambassador for the charity at all times while responding to donkeys in need, DWA’s focus on growing and managing a high quality rehoming scheme in their area.
The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland is looking for a dynamic and resourceful professional to join its team as a DWA for the province of Munster, with flexibility to cover other areas of Ireland as necessary. This is a role that requires excellent equine and people skills. Hands on field based work concerning animal welfare legislation is essential.
Possessing demonstrable equine experience and expert skills, you will take appropriate action when required to prevent donkeys and mules suffering and will anticipate and take preventative steps to avoid cruelty, distress or poor treatment.
You will grow and support a high quality rehoming scheme. You will provide expert training and education to potential donkey guardians. You will provide support and information to a number of stakeholders concerning the care and welfare of donkeys and mules. The successful applicant will be expected to live within the province.

This is a full time, permanent annualised hours contract, working an average of 40 hours per week. Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the charity and the demands of the role.
