For more than 40 years, The Donkey Sanctuary has provided donkey assisted therapy for children in the UK and overseas. Over the past four decades the programme has evolved to cater for users with emotional and cognitive needs as well as physical. Children with physical, social and behavioural difficulties gain confidence, improved life skills and a sense of achievement from our interaction programme. Our donkeys, many of whom have been rescued from a life of neglect, mistreatment or abandonment, gain a new and rewarding life engaging with lots of people.
We are now looking to recruit a Cook to join our dedicated team at The Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre, Leeds.
With experience of food preparation and possessing basic cookery skills, you will provide meals and refreshments for the visitors attending the Centre, ensuring that the kitchen area is kept clean, and that food hygiene regulations are adhered to, at all times. A good communicator, you will provide a friendly and courteous welcome to visitors and assist with fundraising and promotional events.
The ability to demonstrate experience of cooking for large groups, and of working with children, particularly those with additional needs is essential, as are excellent organisational, customer service and time management skills. A knowledge of special dietary requirements is desirable
This is a part-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible, working 23 hours per week.
