We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, friendly and professional individual to join our busy Communications team. This role plays a vital part in developing The Donkey Sanctuary’s brand as the largest equine welfare charity in the world, and in forging strong relationships with supporters, external influencers and stake holders.
Educated to degree level and/or possessing relevant experience of working in media relations and communications including strategic media relations, event PR, feature placement and issues based campaigns, you will support the PR Manager in coordinating all press, broadcast and digital media relations for the charity, producing compelling, innovative and engaging communications products, programmes and campaigns that engage the public across all ages and demographics in the work of The Donkey Sanctuary. Possessing excellent influencing and diplomacy skills, you will develop effective working relationships with members of the media, responding to enquiries and identifying publicity opportunities, and will work closely with regional and in-country colleagues, advising them on the most appropriate PR opportunities to help meet business objectives.
Excellent levels of communication, writing, editorial and information presentation skills, together with an enthusiasm for new digital and social media, is essential, as are experience of working with the media at a national level and the ability to multi-task, demonstrating excellent attention to detail while working with a number of conflicting demands. Previous experience of working in a communications role for an animal welfare charity, and of working with the media at international level, is desirable.
