We currently have a fabulous opportunity for a Trainee Commis Chef to join the brigade at the Donkey Sanctuary’s fantastic restaurant ‘The Kitchen’.
Our Head and Sous Chefs are highly experienced in creating mouth-watering menus, and we make everything fresh onsite producing food from the best ingredients that we source from local producers who share our ethics and commitment to sustainability. We are looking for a dedicated hardworking individual who is interested in enjoying a fabulous work-life balance and passionate about cooking and about producing great food in fast paced environment.
The role can also be offered as an apprenticeship,after your 3 month probation period you could be enrolled onto the apprenticeship program at Cornwall College, training at the renowned River Cottage campus on Park Farm which currently holds the prestigious award of the 10th best cookery school in the UK. Supporting this, we will provide the best training onsite with our very own experienced and award winning team of chefs that produce everything from fresh from our new state of the art kitchen.
Possessing experience of working in a commercial kitchen, you will prepare food to the highest standard of quality and presentation, ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum, and that strict food hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained. Excellent customer service, organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
This is a variable hours, fixed term contract starting 19 March 2018 until 18 March 2019 . Flexibility will be required for weekend working.
