As Fleet Assistant you will provide an efficient fleet service to the charity, supporting the Fleet Manager in utilising all resources within the fleet in the most efficient, cost effective way, following departmental processes in a safe, compliant and legal manner at all times.
Able to demonstrate a basic knowledge and practical application of vehicle maintenance, you will be responsible for undertaking safety and mileage checks (both before and after use) for all charity pool cars, ensuring they are presented and cleaned to a high standard, and for arranging the routine maintenance and servicing of fleet vehicles.
You will assist the Fleet Administration and Compliance Assistant in maintaining an accurate record for all company drivers, including LGV and undertake annual driving licence checks, ensuring all vehicle records on the Fleet database are maintained in an accurate and timely manner, and with insurance claim records and emergency breakdown cover. You will support the Fleet Department with the pool car booking system within the charity, providing assistance to employees using pool cars, ensuring they are familiar with the car and the controls, and will respond to routine enquiries from staff, suppliers and contractors by letter, email, telephone and face to face.
Good office administration, communication and IT skills (including experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word) are essential, as is the ability to multi-task and work with a number conflicting demands. A mechanical qualification and/or experience of working in a similar role in the motor industry and experience of working within a fleet department are desirable.
This is a full-time, permanent contract working 37.5 hours per week, starting as soon as possible.
