We are looking for an experienced Retail Operations Manager to lead, manage and grow the Donkey World trading operations of The Donkey Sanctuary, one of the UK’s largest animal charities and the largest equine charity working internationally.
Possessing substantial experience in implementing and developing retail strategies within a senior retail management role, you will lead a team of managers to deliver our day-to-day commercial activities. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Activities and in collaboration with other members of the Commercial team, you will be responsible for developing new product lines (branded and unbranded) for sale via our charity shops, gift shop, mail order and online.
Working with a number of conflicting demands and deadlines, you will be accountable for the management of our mail order and e-Commerce fulfilment activities, working with the Head of Marketing Operations to ensure the efficient processing of customer orders. You will ensure all existing and future shop openings and refits maximise income, minimise costs and generate significant brand exposure.
Able to demonstrate proven management abilities, including performance management, you will recruit, train, manage and develop retail staff and volunteers, working to The Donkey Sanctuary values and agreed retail standards to meet business objectives. You will ensure that all trading operations are well managed and have sufficient suitable staff and volunteers to provide full coverage during normal hours of trading.
Proven success in sales, including demonstrable experience of meeting and exceeding targets and in developing new product lines, together with the ability to develop exemplary customer relationships and establish high customer standards is essential, as are excellent organisational and prioritising skills and demonstrable experience of understanding and working within budgets.
Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty” – this is a full-time, permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekend working as part of a rota.
