As Visitor Engagement Manager, you will help us to transform our visitor provision at the Sanctuary; managing all onsite event and visitor activity functions, developing an innovative and tailored strategy to maximise income generation and awareness opportunities, and win the hearts and minds of new supporters by developing an inspirational and meaningful visitor experience.
You will work with colleagues across the Marketing Communications directorate to design and implement a tailored ‘visitor engagement journey’, developing a clear strategy for encouraging greater numbers of new visitors – our supporters of the future. You will be an exceptional ambassador for the charity, identifying and joining key working groups in the local community, attending regular networking opportunities and nurturing key tourism collaborations and partnerships. You will provide excellent leadership in all its elements, including line management, recruitment, appraisals, training, coaching and day-to-day support to your teams to ensure our operational needs are met. In conjunction with the Food and beverage Manager, and Retail Operations Manager deliver a strategy to maximise income through cross-selling across all gift shop and restaurant outlets and develop and implement a strategy to ensure that our exciting new restaurant, “The Kitchen”, becomes a visitor draw in itself.
Proven strategic planning and implementation, financial and budget management and networking and collaboration skills are essential as is the ability to lead, manage, mentor and inspire a large and diverse team.
Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty”, this is a full-time, permanent contract starting on 18 September 2017.
