The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest animal charities and the largest equine charity working internationally.
There are an estimated 50 million donkeys & mules worldwide. Most are working to support livelihoods in some of the poorest and most marginalized communities in the world and have a vital role to play in human happiness and survival. Many need care and protection from a life of suffering and neglect.
We currently work with partners in 35 countries reaching over 1 million donkeys and mules and our vision is to reach many more. The Donkey Sanctuary is working for a world where donkeys and mules live free form suffering, and their contribution to humanity is valued.
As PR Manager you will help The Donkey Sanctuary demonstrate the relevance and urgency of our work and inspire action to protect the lives of donkeys across the globe. Your contribution to this charity will make a difference to the lives of countless donkeys – by giving them a voice!
As part of our communications team, based at our flagship sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon, you will ensure relevant media opportunities are fully maximised for the charity, delivering a fast and accurate response to media enquiries and coordinating the out of hours response.
The right candidate will have a genuine passion for animal welfare, and bring expertise to the press team in crafting appropriate crisis and reputation management communications as well as devising and organising events to include press conferences, open days and press tours across our charity locations.
You will have experience in networking and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with media contacts. Providing support and guidance on communications to internal teams and being an ambassador for the Marketing Communications Directorate at all times.
This is a full-time (including the coordination of reasonable out of hours response), permanent role, starting as soon as possible. Working 35 hours per week.
