When you hear about The Donkey Sanctuary, your initial instinct might be to think of our wonderful work to rescue, rehome and care for donkeys across the UK. But there is much more to our charity than meets the eye.
There are an estimated 50 million donkeys and mules worldwide. Most are working to support livelihoods in some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world and have a vital role to play in human happiness and survival. Many need care and protection from a life of suffering and neglect.
This is an exciting time to join our innovative organisation, as we expand our International Programme and aim to build an evidence base and partnerships that will reach donkeys and the people that rely on them on an unprecedented scale. Advocacy is a key part of our new strategy and we are currently developing a programme of engagement with the UN and major governments worldwide.
A reorganisation of our Senior Leadership Team has been undertaken to develop our business plan, in order to deliver the future strategy for the charity. We now seek an Executive Director of Resources to support us in the next phase of our evolutionary journey. Working closely with our visionary Chief Executive, you will strengthen and develop our Resourcing Directorate to ensure continued growth and development in line with our ambitious strategic aims.
This appointment requires an experienced, innovative leader who understands the complex remit and responsibilities of our organisation. You will lead the development and delivery of The Donkey Sanctuary’s strategy, operating model and annual business plan, creating awareness and understanding throughout the charity. Establishing and monitoring outcomes based key performance indicators for the charity measured against the strategy, business plan and budget.
As Executive Director of Resources, you will be a visible and inspirational leader with the credibility and personal profile required to engage our staff as we drive our plans for growth forward. You will have proven experience of driving cultural change, ideally within the Not for Profit sector in a similar context. You will be responsible for the specific areas of Finance, HR, IT, Estates & Facilities and Legal. This is a pivotal point in our organisation’s history; if you have the passion and skills to make a difference, we would like you to be a part of our story.
