The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest animal charities and the largest equine charity working internationally.
Our Fundraising Department is expanding and looking to recruit a full time permanent, Community Fundraiser to be based in the West Midlands, to join our already established and successful Community Fundraising Team.
Within this new role, you will help to develop and implement our Community Fundraising Strategy in the West Midlands (primarily around the Birmingham area) by building and developing long term relationships with groups, volunteers and local organisations fundraising for the Charity.
As the main point of contact for fundraising in the West Midlands, you will raise money by recruiting individuals, groups and organisations and developing long term relationships with them. You will spot new opportunities and support existing events to increase participation and revenue. With an engaging personality, you will encourage and motivate volunteers/donors through inspiring communication, in person and via social media.
Developing opportunities to pitch for support for regional partnerships, with among others, businesses and the media. You will need to attract and support participants for runs and challenge events in the North West and beyond.
You will have experience of managing all stages of relationships with fundraising volunteers and groups and third party fundraisers from research and recruitment to long term stewardship. You will be able to demonstrate a good track record of achieving and exceeding financial and non-financial objectives. You will be committed to continuing professional development with a view to being able to identify and manage any fundraising opportunity that comes your way.
You must be able to work autonomously as well as being a strong team player. You will have the ability to work well under pressure to meet targets and tight deadlines. With a cheerful and outgoing personality, you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and have a natural ability to build rapport with a range of internal and external audiences, with the ability to flex your communication style to suit different individuals.

This is a full-time, permanent role, starting as soon as possible. Working 35 hours per week, flexibility will be required to work some evenings and weekends with occasional planned travel within the UK involved. This is a home based role.
