The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities; currently supporting projects in over 30 countries worldwide. Our vision is a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering and their contribution to humanity is fully valued.
There are over 50 million donkeys and mules in the world we currently reach one million of them every year. Within the next 3 years we intend double this to 2 million. Can you help raise the money needed to get us to our goal?
We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Head of Commercial and Onsite Activities to lead our retail, catering and visitor-facing functions in generating income and support for our worldwide projects.
Based at our beautiful sanctuary in Sidmouth, which is not only home to over 500 rescued donkeys, but also receives over 320,000 visitors a year and has an active programme of wildlife and habitat conservation, you will inspire and engage our commercial and visitor-facing teams, driving dynamic growth and expansion strategies across our portfolio of commercial channels including:
- Our growing network of UK-wide charity shops and online and catalogue sales
- Visitor engagement, trading and catering at our newly developed visitor facilities in Devon
- Commercial and corporate partnerships, weddings, conferencing and onsite events.

This is a full-time, permanent position, starting as soon as possible. Working 37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility available, this role is based in Sidmouth, Devon; an area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’.
