Staff at our Belfast Donkey Assisted Therapy centre were delighted to receive a phone call out of the blue from local man Gavin Graham asking if he could pop in to hand over a donation cheque. Gavin had recently completed a gruelling series of Tour de France challenges in the Pyrenees to raise £1,650 for the centre by conquering 10 of the toughest mountain climbs in the world.
Gavin completes a range of challenges every couple of years and divides the proceeds between various local causes, after hearing about our work, he nominated The Donkey Sanctuary Assisted Therapy centre in Belfast as one of them. Gavin visited last month to hand over his cheque and meet the staff and donkeys.
Thanks to tremendous sponsorship and fundraisers like Gavin, we can welcome hundreds of children for therapy sessions at our centres every week, both with their family or in groups from local schools and it’s wonderful to have people support our work in this way.
