It's always sad when we hear a supporter has passed away but touched when we learn that our donkeys were chosen to benefit in memory.
Earlier this year we received a donation of £453 collected by family and friends of the late Peggy Yvonne Wood, together with this letter and photos from one of her friends, Tricia Sheehan.
One of them was a rather comical photo of Mopsy that Peggy loved who seemed to be smiling at the camera.
A very dear friend, Peggy Yvonne Wood, passed away recently. She had always loved donkeys and on a holiday a few years ago we visited your Sanctuary. She was absolutely thrilled at being able to actually go up to the donkeys and pat and cuddle them. Something she didn't think she would be able to do having become disabled some 12 years ago and confined to a wheelchair.
Her cousin, god-daughter and I thought instead of people sending flowers that we would ask people to send donations for The Donkey Sanctuary and I am very pleased to enclose these cheques to help you look after these lovely animals.
As there is more than one cheque would it be possible for you to put the following onto your website in her memory:
In loving memory of Peggy Yvonne Wood, a wonderful lady who never complained and was always smiling. She would be thrilled to know that she had been able to help her beloved donkeys.
I hope to visit Devon in the future and I shall definitely come and visit the Sanctuary again to see the fantastic work you all carry out.
With kindest regards,
Gifts like Peggy's family and friends allow us to continue our work and each will provide a lasting tribute to Peggy.
We have eight donkeys called Peggy in our care and we're sure that Peggy would be thrilled to know that these donations will help us look after these namesakes and all their donkey friends.
