At 34 years old, Mimosa is one of our older residents and proves that donkeys are never too old to learn new tricks. She will enjoy a loving home for the rest of her life here at the Sanctuary, though sadly she has begun to encounter more challenges as she is slowly going blind.
We are happy to report, however, that Mimosa has not let her faltering eye sight slow her down one iota. The clever girl is always thinking of new tricks to keep her and her donkey friends entertained.
Recently she even discovered her talent of opening gates.
Mimosa’s groom Kate says: “We don’t really know how she developed the talent of opening gates. It took us a while to realise who was doing it as we didn’t catch her in the act for a while! She is also very clever at opening stable doors and can even open the door to the feed room. We had to move the door handle up high so she couldn’t get in. Mimosa is such a character and we all love her dearly.”
