On Tuesday 14th February 2012, Martin Clunes and Graham Cory, President and Chief Executive of the British Horse Society respectively, visited our Sanctuary situated in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus.
They were visiting Cyprus due to the RAF Akrotiri Saddle Club affiliating with the British Horse Society and the Saddle Club asked if they could drop in to see the donkeys.
Together with two Akrotiri Saddle Club members and another British Horse Society representative, they spent almost two hours on a guided tour and were very interested in the differences between horses and donkeys! They were also impressed with the small museum and education centre which opened last year.
Martin wanted to cuddle as many donkeys as possible as well as being asked by some of the visitors for autographs and photos! The photograph above shows him with a donkey called Marcus and Louise Dougan, one of the grooms.
Martine Clunes is an English actor and comedian and is perhaps best known for his roles as Gary Strang in Men Behaving Badly, Doctor Martin Ellingham in Doc Martin and the title character in Reggie Perrin.
