Local ambassadors from the national grant giving animal charity, Support Adoption For Pets, visited The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth to present a cheque to pay for veterinary treatments for foster donkeys.
The sum of £24,384 was presented on 24/03/2015 on behalf of the independent grant giving animal charity, whose adoption branches are based in Pets at Home stores across the UK.
The grant will help donkeys ‘fostered’ to private homes all over the country, whose owners cannot afford certain vets bills.
David Cook, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to receive this grant from Support Adoption For Pets. It will make such a difference to the lives of some of our foster donkeys sadly suffering from medical problems and help to ensure they live long and happy lives. We know that fostering or rehoming donkeys and mules is hugely beneficial for the animals and for their owners so we are very grateful to Support Adoption for Pets for their valuable work.”
Amy Wilson, Charity Manager at Support Adoption For Pets said: “It is a real privilege to be able to support The Donkey Sanctuary by awarding them this grant. We know it will really help them to achieve their goals, and that this money, alongside their hard work, will support donkeys across the UK.”
The Donkey Sanctuary has 1,575 donkeys and mules on foster to private homes in the UK and Europe as part of the total 6,300 donkeys and mules it cares for in the UK and Europe.
