It’s not too late to join The Donkey Sanctuary’s unique Bray and Stay camping experience next weekend, as well as further dates into the summer!
The overnight stay, under canvas, offers the opportunity for exclusive access behind the scenes at the Sanctuary to try out life as a donkey groom and to find out what makes these gentle animals tick whilst enjoying great company, beautiful scenery and fantastic food at the same time.
Campers will have the chance to lead the donkeys on a ‘donkey agility’ gymkana course, to groom, feed and muck them out, to take a special donkey quiz and enjoy time out with fellow donkey enthusiasts.
The experience starts with putting up tents from 3pm on the Friday, followed by dinner, an evening walk with the donkeys then hot chocolate, a quiz and bed time. Saturday morning starts bright and early with feeding and mucking out the donkeys followed by a hearty breakfast then grooming as well as plenty of time for donkey cuddles with your new friends before leaving late on Saturday morning.
Expert advice will be on hand throughout the stay and there will be plenty of ‘behind the scenes’ contact with the donkeys and the staff who care for them.
Chris Philips, the organiser, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to spend time behind the scenes at the Sanctuary and to enjoy special moments with the donkeys when all the other visitors have gone home. It will be great fun for everybody and a great chance to unwind on a lovely summer’s evening. We hope you’ll join us! The more the merrier!”
Bray and Stay experiences are offered at Sidmouth on Friday 11th-Saturday 12th July and again on Friday 5th- Saturday 6th September.
The Donkey Sanctuary Ivybridge offers them on 31st July-1st August and The Donkey Sanctuary Leeds on 8th-9th August.
Previous campers said it was a “VIP experience”, “great fun” and “so relaxing and therapeutic”.
