On Thursday 6th March 2013 The Donkey Sanctuary in Birmingham was presented with a £300 donation from Pertemps People Development Group.
Colleagues from employment and training specialists Pertemps People Development Group visited the centre to present their contribution. The funds were donated from the company’s payroll giving scheme, which allows employees to give money to UK registered charities. Louise Docking, an employee at Pertemps People Development Group has adopted donkeys from The Donkey Sanctuary and has witnessed the amazing work the centre does.
Louise Docking explains, “I have supported the sanctuary for a number of years, adopting some of the donkeys and visiting the centres on many occasions. I admired the dedication of those volunteering at the centre and was amazed at the wonderful work they do in both caring for the donkeys but also brightening the lives of children with additional needs. My partner Graham who photographs many of the donkeys and produces canvases and cushions has donated a couple of pieces for raffle prizes to raise funds and we will look to do anything we feel may help in any small way.”
Sue Brennan, manager of The Donkey Sanctuary Birmingham says: “From everyone here at the centre we would like to thank Louise and everyone at Pertemps People Development Group for their kind donation. They have provided us with generous financial support so we can continue our wonderful work for the children and donkeys, the money they have donated will go help us improve our outdoor play area.
Around 200 local children with additional needs and disabilities visit the Birmingham donkey assisted therapy centre each week for therapeutic riding sessions. The charity also provides outreach visits with donkeys to residents of nursing homes, hospices and care homes.
Pertemps People Development Group hold Government contracts to help longer-term unemployed and other disadvantaged job seekers find sustainable employment opportunities.
