Festive fundraisers and their donkey helpers raised the bumper sum of £241.23 for The Donkey Sanctuary by collecting in Plymouth city centre last week.
Shoppers were especially generous and the total collected was far more than expected.
Paula Betts, Centre Co-Ordinator at The Donkey Sanctuary’s assisted therapy centre in Ivybridge, said it was a great day’s fundraising and a great vibe.
“It was a really good day for us and lovely and Christmassy at the same time. It really helped that we were right by the ice-rink and people couldn’t resist petting the donkeys whilst they were waiting to skate. Everybody was having a really good time and wanted to hear all about our work.”
The collection at The Piazza in Plymouth on 14th December was just one of many that take place throughout the year, and one of two in the run up to Christmas.
Through fundraising activities like these the Ivybridge centre is able to provide donkey assisted therapy to 150 local children with additional needs and disabilities from Plymouth and the surrounding area each week.
