Leeds charity runner Simon Robinson will soon be travelling to the United States to take part in the Marine Corps Marathon on 27th October 2013, to raise funds for international animal welfare charity, The Donkey Sanctuary.
Simon has been a much valued supporter of The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy centre in Eccup, Leeds for a number of years. Having previously completed the Great North Run to fundraise for the centre, Simon is preparing to tackle the gruelling Marine Corps Marathon which takes place in Arlington, Virginia.
Simon Robinson says: “The work at the Eccup centre is vital to local children with additional needs. I was amazed at the safe and caring environment they offer, where children can learn new skills, raise their confidence, and improve balance and co-ordination. I look forward to participating in this year’s Marine Corps Marathon, to ensure they can continue their valuable work.”
Cathryn Williams, manager of The Donkey Assisted Therapy centre in Leeds, says, “We know how hard Simon has trained for this huge challenge and send best wishes for every step of the marathon. We’d like to thank Simon for his wonderful efforts, and are delighted to receive his support. Our centre provides Donkey Assisted Therapy to around 190 children each week; vital services which are possible only through generous donations such as this.”
