The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is hosting a number of fun, new events for all the family over the May half term holiday (25th May – 2nd June 2013). Throughout the week, families are invited to take part in a Nollaig Trail. Finding clues hidden around the Sanctuary that tells the story of rescued donkey Nollaig.
Help our beaches look their best this year by taking part in the National Trust Beach Clean at Western Mouth. The Donkey Sanctuary has teamed up with local National Trust Wardens and will be providing all gloves and equipment for the event taking place on Tuesday 28th May, 1pm – 4pm.
The charity is also holding its first ever Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter’s tea party picnic on 29th May, 12:00pm – 2.30pm. Follow the white rabbit through the woods and solve the Mad Hatter’s riddle. To add to the fun, there will be a prize for the maddest hat!
Chris Phillips, Events Officer at The Donkey Sanctuary, says: “We’re really excited and proud of our new events for this half term. I’m looking forward to joining everyone in their mad hats for the Mad Hatters Tea party! It’s going to be fun, interactive and for all ages!”
Also for the May half term is Donkey Dudes on Sunday 26th May 10:30am, Tuesday 28th May, 10:00am-12pm and Thursday 30th May, 10:30am – 2:30pm, where budding donkey grooms can spend some one to one time with a donkey from the charity’s events team. Sessions introduce the basics of donkey care and children will leave with a certificate detailing what they have learnt.
There are also plenty of other things to see and do whilst at The Donkey Sanctuary, including beautiful walks, a maze for perfect family fun, a gift shop full of donkey souvenirs, a restaurant for hearty lunches and more. And of course hundreds of donkeys to see and stroke!
