The Donkey Sanctuary’s popular Junior Vet Day events are back for 2013, offering budding young vets the opportunity to get a taste of a day in the veterinary department at the largest donkey sanctuary in the world.
During Junior Vet Days, aspiring vets aged between 11 and 15 years old will be able work with The Donkey Sanctuary’s vets and practice examinations, dental checks and learn all about the challenges of professional donkey care. The day also includes sessions on anatomy, bandaging, how to calculate medication doses and a tour of the hospital.
Event organiser Chris Phillips says: “Our Junior Vet Days were very popular last year and give a superb introduction to life as a vet, including hands-on experience of donkey dental examinations, health checks and scrubbing in for surgery. It’s a fantastic way to see behind-the-scenes of the vet department and a great work experience in its own right for budding young vets.”
The 2013 Junior Vet Days will be running on 4th April, 1st August and 28th October and places are available for £40 each.
