A busy Shopmobility worker from Chesterton near Cambridge will soon be undertaking a sponsored walking challenge in northern Italy in aid of abandoned, cruelly treated and neglected donkeys.
Alison Combe is taking part in the Cinque Terre Challenge from 18th to 25th April, an event organised by The Donkey Sanctuary in Devon. She and 19 other trekkers will be embarking upon days of challenging mountain path walks throughout Liguria National Park. The trip finishes with a visit to the charity’s Italian sanctuary, Il Rifugio degli Asinelli, where over 100 rescued donkeys are cared for.
Alison is physically prepared for the challenge as she is a keen horse rider and enjoys walking and cycling around the local area, but needs help to reach the sponsorship target, which will be used to fund The Donkey Sanctuary’s rescue centres throughout Europe.
She says: “This will be the second charity trek that I have taken part in, it was a tremendous effort to raise sponsorship money and undertake my first trek but immensely rewarding. I am really looking forward to enjoying the camaraderie of being in a group of like-minded people whilst raising funds and awareness for The Donkey Sanctuary. As I still have a great deal more money to raise to reach my target of £1850, any donations would be most appreciated.”
Alison has a dedicated webpage on the online charity fundraising platform JustGiving, where donations can be made securely with confidence at www.justgiving.com/donkeysanctuary-alisoncombe
