On Monday 14th December, a donkey from the Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary will be leading a popular Christmas procession in Honiton.
The congregation, led by the Sanctuary’s donkey, will proceed from the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church on Ottery Moor Lane at 6pm on to St Paul’s Church on the High Street, pausing on the way to sing Christmas carols.
Dawn Vincent from the charity dedicated to protecting donkeys and mules worldwide says: “It is wonderful that we have been invited to participate in such a special event in Honiton and we hope everyone taking part on the night enjoys meeting our super donkey, and finding out more about them.”
For anyone missing this opportunity to meet the donkey, why not visit The Donkey Sanctuary just outside of Sidmouth. For the first time ever, the Sanctuary has a new Santa’s Grotto for its younger visitors. The opening times are as follows:
• Sunday 20th December, 12.00pm to 3.30pm
• Monday 21st December, 2.00pm to 4.00pm
• Tuesday 22nd December, 10.00am to 12.00pm
Dawn Vincent adds: “Our Santa’s Grotto is just beautiful and has a good cause behind it. We make a small charge of £3 per child for which they will receive a small gift, the remainder helping us to raise funds to support Donkey Sanctuary projects both in the UK and overseas.”
