The Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary is holding its very first Christmas craft fair and Santa’s Grotto on Sunday 15th November from 10am-4pm.
The charity’s fundraising event includes an indoor craft fair where gifts, including vintage bags, driftwood items, handmade jewellery, knitted toys and framed photos, can be purchased. Youngsters at the Sanctuary will also find great delight in visiting Santa’s grotto – another first for the Sanctuary.
Kate Bailey who has been organising the craft fair says: “Visitors will be able to prepare for Christmas in a warm and festive environment and have an opportunity to see and buy a fabulous range of genuine handmade crafts. These are much in demand and we hope that visitors will find something they love, knowing that they bought it directly from the person who made it - making it a very special Christmas gift.
“The Santa’s Grotto will be just magical too and we hope will open the event up to the whole family. And to keep you warm, hot turkey and cranberry baguettes will be on sale along with mulled wine, hot non-alcoholic punch and warm mince pies. Our antique fairground organ, Charlotte, will be adding to the atmosphere with her Christmas carols too.”
Whilst it is free to visit The Donkey Sanctuary all year round, entrance to the indoor craft fair on Sunday 15th November will be £2.00 per adult, entry will be free to children under the age of 12. A visit to Santa’s grotto will be £3.00 and children will have their photo taken with Santa along with receiving a gift.
