New donkey welfare officer for North Wales and Anglesey
Posted on 27 October 2009.The Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary has recently introduced a new area welfare officer to North Wales and Anglesey.
Heulwen Williams, who is based in Anglesey, is keen to provide free advice and practical support to donkey owners in the county.
Heulwen says: “I am really enjoying my role as Welfare Officer as I love getting out there and meeting people, helping owners provide the best care possible for these wonderful animals. Being able to speak to owners in either Welsh or English means that I can offer free advice and guidance on donkey care to local people in whichever language they are most at ease with.”
“Every day so far is different and I look forward to giving good, practical and friendly advice on donkey-related matters."
Heulwen is one of 40 officers employed by the charity in the UK. In addition to advice and support calls, Heulwen can help with:
- Advice on donkey care and welfare
- Follow up reports regarding alleged maltreatment or neglect of donkeys
- Enquiries about fostering a pair of Donkey Sanctuary donkeys/mules
- Arranging for the relinquishment of donkeys to the charity's main site in Sidmouth.
