The Donkey Sanctuary will be present at next week’s Royal Welsh Show from (20th – 23rd July 2009) along with its connected charity, The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST), a charity which provides riding therapy to children with additional needs.
Visitors can expect the following highlights:
- Welfare Officers from The Donkey Sanctuary will be present to provide information and advice on donkey care and welfare
The Donkey Sanctuary will be proudly sponsoring the annual foot trimming competition which will take place on Monday 20th July at the Farriers’ building
- Meet two of the donkeys from EST who provide riding therapy
- Adopt a donkey
- Donkey cuddly toys, stationery and other fundraising goods for sale
Molly Lloyd, Welfare Officer for The Donkey Sanctuary says: “We are absolutely delighted that we are able to attend this show with our connected charity EST.
“The Donkey Sanctuary has been holding a foot trimming competition at this event for several years and we have been overwhelmed by the number of entrants. We have two categories, qualified farriers and apprentice farriers all competing for a valuable set of clippers.
“We will be on hand to provide information such as where to buy a summer fly mask or any other donkey related questions visitors may have.
“Our EST donkeys will be available to meet and greet visitors; the donkeys really enjoy all the added fuss and attention they receive.”
The Donkey Sanctuary and EST believe it is important to attend shows such as The Royal Welsh to make people aware of their work.
