The Donkey Sanctuary Birmingham is appealing for local businesses and individuals to donate items for its charity auction on Saturday 26th July or to come along and support the event by bidding for some of the fantastic lots already received.
The event marks the centre’s twentieth anniversary year and all proceeds go towards supporting donkey assisted therapy for children with additional needs from the community.
Donated items so far include a tour of Stratford, a golf club experience, a personalised children’s story, a photoshoot, a car valet, plus donkey-related items, children’s cakes and toys – and many more!
Details can be found at: http://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/event/8198
Viewing begins at 11am and the bidding begins at 1pm, run by expert auctioneer Gill Atkinson.
There will also be the chance to meet and adopt some of the resident donkeys, to enjoy family games and a barbecue.
Organiser Andy Perry at the centre says: “We really hope as many businesses and individuals will support us by donating items for the auction or by coming along on the day.
“We’ve got a fantastic range of goods already from experiences to childrens’ cakes to meals out at spa hotels but there’s always room for more!
He adds: “As this is our twentieth anniversary year we really want to involve local business and the community as much as possible because they’ve been such a great support to us.”
Around 200 local children with additional needs and disabilities visit The Donkey Sanctuary Birmingham each week for therapeutic riding sessions. The charity also provides outreach visits with donkeys to residents of nursing homes, hospices and care homes.
