Our current hospital is very busy. We treat many donkeys with a whole range of health issues.
Here’s a quick overview of some of the procedures we performed, thanks to our generous supporters.
A stay in hospital lasts anything from one day (tooth extraction) to six weeks (recovery from major surgery).
Like humans, in order to diagnose a condition, we will bring donkeys in as day-patients to carry out endoscopy, ultrasound and x-ray.
On a typical day, 11 donkeys (6 patients and 5 friends) came into hospital for the following treatments:
2 minor lump removals, 2 sarcoid treatments and 2 dental treatments.
With a new hospital and your help we’ll be able to treat many more patients. Most donkeys have a special donkey friend with who they bond for life.
The donkey patient’s friend stays in hospital with him throughout his treatment, to minimise stress.
At our new hospital our vets will be able to do more of what they do best: diagnose and treat sick donkeys.
