Join in with a variety of wildlife and conservation projects at Slade Houe Farm, Sidmouth. Meet like-minded people, learn new skills, get some fresh air and help our local wildlife.
Slade House Farm, Sidmouth is home to our very own traditional cider apple orchard. Today we will be pruning the dormant apple trees to ensure a good cycle of fruiting wood in the years ahead. We will be joined by our resident fruit-farm expert who will be on-hand to show us how to appropriately prune the trees. The day also happens to be Wassailing Day, a blessing of the fruit trees, which traditionally involves celebration and singing to the health of the trees in the hope that they provide a bountiful harvest in the autumn. So come help manage our orchard and celebrate Wassailing day with us!
