Carols by Candlelight

14 December 2018 - 3:00pm to 7:00pm
No booking required

Join us for a special evening of carol singing by candlelight alongside the resident donkeys at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon.

50.6966458, -3.190148

Slade House Farm, Sidmouth, EX10 0NU.

Setting the scene and adding a touch of magic to the evening’s proceedings, the sanctuary will be spectacularly illuminated by thousands of candles from 3pm onwards.

The festivities will then kick-off with a host of merry tunes on Main Yard from saxophonists, Saxminster, before the 45 minute Christmas carol service commences at 5pm in New Barn surrounded by lots of friendly donkeys – who may even join in!

Carol sheets will be available from the Main Entrance and Video Room, where you'll also be able to purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win a hamper of luxury goodies and try your luck at our games to win some more prizes. Pen special messages to loved ones, friends or our donkeys to adorn the Christmas wish tree in The Kitchen, which will be open for winter warming refreshments until the end of the event, as will The Hut.

Snacks and refreshments will be available to takeaway or enjoy in the comfort of the restaurant while watching the carol service live-streamed from New Barn, including mulled wine, hot drinks, pasties and sausage rolls, soup, mince pies and a selection of cakes. For those joining us during the day, The Kitchen will be open as usual from 9am, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon treats. The Gift Shop will also be open all day until 7pm, providing the perfect Christmas shopping opportunity for wonderfully unique gifts and donkey-design items.

For those who are unable to join us here at the sanctuary, the webcam sound in New Barn will be turned on from 3pm onwards, allowing you to enjoy the service from the comfort of your own home.

This event is free to attend with free parking. Dogs on leads welcome.
