Join in with a variety of wildlife and conservation projects at Slade Houe Farm, Sidmouth. Meet like-minded people, learn new skills, get some fresh air and help our local wildlife.
Our own field surveys for the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme have identified the presence of Dormice in the area. Dormice are a protected species in Britain and regarded as a priority for conservation action. The South West of England provides a stronghold for Dormice but changes in woodland management, farming practices, loss of hedgerows and fragmentation of woodland have all taken a toll on their numbers nationally. Dormouse boxes help us to monitor their abundance here at the Donkey Sanctuary; this data is also collated by the People’s Trust for Endangered Species for national analysis.
