We run volunteer days where everyone is welcome to come and help us carry out conservation work on one of The Donkey Sanctuary's Devon farms. Help us help wildlife and meet like-minded people, learn new skills, get some fresh air and get stuck in!
Paccombe Farm, located at the hamlet of Harcombe, is home to almost 400 donkeys and has approximately 90 acres of woodland. We have a management plan for this woodland and need your help to carry out essential work. This month will be clearing and burning rhododendron, an invasive species in our woodlands. Rhododendron forms dense stands and completely shades out and smothers ground level vegetation and prevents woodland regeneration.
Wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing to suit the weather conditions.
Tools will be provided, however please bring your own gloves.
Hot drinks will be provided. Bring a packed lunch and a bottled drink or thermos for while we are working.
No experience necessary – just plenty of enthusiasm!
These are free events, however, booking is required.
