Situated near Buxton, our Derbyshire sanctuary covers almost 20 acres and provides permanent refuge to a small number of donkeys, some of whom are elderly and have long-term medical conditions. Fit and healthy donkeys that are relinquished into the Derbyshire Centre may be put forward for our Rehoming Scheme where they will be rehomed with one of our Guardian families.

Although not open to the general public, we hold five open days between May and September for our visitors to meet the staff and interact with the donkeys.

Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on leads.

Refreshments and catering will be available.

Book online

Due to the popularity of our open days, we have implemented a booking system to help us monitor booked visitor numbers, and to assist with contacting visitors in the event of any changes to the planned event.

Please note that the earliest time visitors can arrive on site is 10am. You are welcome to arrive any time after this. We recommend arriving no later than 2pm to make the most of your open day experience.
