Families are invited to take part in a Spring Fair being held by international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary on Saturday 14th April from 10am-2pm to help raise funds for its Leeds donkey assisted therapy centre.
The centre in Eccup is hosting a day of family fun which includes stalls, refreshments and the chance for children to take part in a donkey obstacle course.
Centre manager Cathryn Williams says: “Families at our Spring Fair will be able to take part in plenty of games and enjoy the delicious cake stall. We are also setting up a very special obstacle course for our donkeys which children will be able to get involved in. As well as taking part in the Easter fun, you’ll be able to meet our 22 gorgeous donkeys who will be more than happy to welcome you for cuddles.”
Visitors will also be able to adopt a donkey from the centre on the day. Adopting Simon, William, Joey or Billy will make an unusual Easter present that is not only a healthier option than the usual mountain of chocolate, but also helps the centre to bring children with additional needs in contact with donkeys to have fun and to gain from the therapeutic benefits from riding, such as improved motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination and body posture.
